When they sow the wind, they will reap the whirlwind;
One of the most unsettling accounts from the shooting in Orlando was when a first responder told of hearing victims' cell phones going off all around the club. Can you imagine walking through those rooms, seeing lives that were cut short but hearing those ring tones and vibrations going off over and over again? Two things come to mind. 1. The people on the other end. Mothers, fathers, friends, all desparately trying to reach their loved ones. 2. The fact that these phones are things - just plastic and metal and you can't take them with you.
Here's a good check-up for us all to do.Think of all the things you do in a one-week period. How much of it is sowing wind and how much of it is sowing seeds that will bear fruit? Wind has power, but we can't see it. We can't hold it. It's blows by and then it's gone. When you invest in nothing, you get nothing. The problem is that the world tries to convince us that things that don't matter DO and vice versa.
We know in our hearts what is worth sowing - family, friendship, service to the community, God. Let's identify ONE way we are sowing wind and how that can change next week. Instead of spending an hour watching TV after dinner, bake cookies together as a family. Sacrifice buying that next lawn tool and instead decide what non-profit you want to give a surprise gift to. God will honor and multiply that effort you make. I promise!
