1 Corinthians 2: 3-5
I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling, and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
What kind of response do you think Tony Robbins would get if he approached his motivational speeches with "weakness and fear and much trembling"? He probably wouldn't be one of the most talked about motivational speakers in our time. But here we see Paul, probably considered one of the most motivational speakers in all of history, telling us he is fearful. Why? Because God's way is not our way. It's pretty simple but so hard to grasp sometimes. I remember growing up hearing my dad tell me I need to be confident and never show fear or weakness. Christ's message is the opposite of that. We need to undo all that this world teaches us in order to follow him. Showing my weakness so that God can get the glory is still one of the most difficult things for me to do as a Christ follower. When I let go of the desire to be strong and in control is when God shows up and actually gets the work done. My challenge to you is to be vulnerable to one person today. Let them see where you are weak so they can recognize God's strength carrying you through.
