God loves you! This is probably one of the earliest truths we learn about Him. But it's amazing how we can know a concept intellectually and still not really grasp it. To really explore God's love for us, we need to experience it. A powerful way we do that is by encountering His mercy. It's an amazing thing to really be reconciled to God after doing something you really feel bad about. In the shame of sin, we can forget the mercy of God and even doubt His love. In these times of pain, we need to hold on to that age-old truth of God's love. He is waiting for us to come back to Him with open arms. God is scanning the horizon constantly for prodigals. In experiencing the mercy found in being truly reconciled to our Father who loves us, we approach that great mystery: that God loves us and will continue to love us no matter how far we feel we've fallen. You'll never fall far enough to not be 'caught' by God.
