1 Peter 2:11
Beloved, I urge you as aliens and sojourners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul.
A number of years ago, the band Rascal Flatts had a hit song called, "Life is a Highway." It was also popularized in the Pixar movie, Cars. Life is a journey with twists and turns, bumps in the road and smooth sailing. We've all probably been down these roads. The same in faith. We are all pilgrims on a journey of faith. Sometimes we drive the beauty of the coastline, the majesty of the mountains, or the easy plains. Other times, the road gets bumpy, full of potholes. Occasionally we get lost, we lose our way. Sin is the culprit. We are lured by the desires of pride, lust, greed. There are so many things that keep us from the good road, the one less traveled. It's easy to go down the "worldly" road, but we need to find that road that gets us to heaven…that one is a narrow road. Pray the Lord's Prayer today in your car on the way to work, emphasizing, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Be mindful of those worldly desires that wage war against your soul!
