Acts 11:15-16
As I began to speak, the holy Spirit fell upon them as it had upon us at the beginning, and I remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said, 'John baptized with water but you will be baptized with the holy Spirit.'
Our reading today begins with a vision Peter has while praying. I have not been fortunate enough to have a vision while praying but I truly believe it happens. Recently someone who was praying for me told me of a vision she had. It was of me as a little boy, and I had a large pitcher in my hands. She said the pitcher was almost as large as I was. I was pouring the contents of the pitcher out and as I did this she heard the words "Into the canals, cracks and crevices". She went on to tell me that I had a lot to give and that God would honor my giving by allowing the Spirit to pour out of me and into those cracks. The hard to get to places.
Needless to say I was a little floored when she shared this vision with me. It was very encouraging to hear someone affirm me that way. But it was also a huge challenge. How am I allowing God to work through me today. How can I be more like Peter in our scripture passage? How can I speak God's truth to those He places in my path so that the Holy Spirit can fall upon them and fill all those cracks?
