HD Radio technology has been developing for more than a decade, but has recently come to the consumer market.  In 2007, Spirit FM was one of the first broadcasters in the Tampa Bay market to begin broadcasting digital signals using HD Radio.  We were the first in the bay area to offer three audio streams of programming, Spirit FM HD1, Spirit FM HD2 The Light, and Spirit FM HD3, El Fuego.

It is our mission to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by using all of the gifts God has given us.  Your generosity has made it possible for us to expand to this level of broadcasting.  As we migrate to our new studios, the programming choices will become even more appealing to listeners of all tastes.  Visit our programming page for the programming choices that we currently offer and progress on our move.

HD Radio is an emerging technology, and will continue to grow and improve in time.  Listeners that use an HD radio will experience enhanced listening with CD-like audio and a greater choice of programming within the same audio channel.  Listeners who are tuned to the main 90.5 HD-1 channel that live or travel on the fringe of the 90.5 FM coverage area may experience a slight fluctuation in the signal as the radio shifts from analog to digital, and back.  This is normal for those on the fringe of the coverage area, or for those with poor antenna reception.  The key to good reception is the type of receiver and antenna placement.  When shopping for an HD Radio, look at the receiver carefully to note the type of antenna as well as the speaker system on the receiver.  Like any traditional FM radio, the sound is only as good as the reception and speakers. The link below will provide more information on HD Radio including stations around the country broadcasting HD, radios for sale, and other pertinent information.
