Luke 9:62

Jesus said, "No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God."

These days, it seems multitasking has become a required skill in the workplace. We're expected to not only get our work done but to complete multiple tasks at the same time. To our surprise, a recent study has shown that multitasking is kind of a misnomer. When we take on various projects and try to complete them concurrently, we're actually simply switching from task to task quickly. This fractured attention given to our daily work can often effect our focus and be counterproductive. It can prevent us from giving our full attention to what we're doing. Jesus seems to argue a similar point in this verse and the ones before it. Just like giving just a fraction of your attention to a task at work can be counterproductive, living a halfhearted Christian life can be spiritually counterproductive. If we choose to follow Christ, we should not give Him just part of ourselves, but everything. Seeking and doing His will should be our top priority. Unlike focusing on one item on your to-do list at work at a time, following Him will actually help you in focusing on life's other priorities. You'll be a better mother, a better husband, and even a better employee. Give it a try!
