Psalm 8:4-5
When I behold the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars you set into place-What is man that you are mindful of him?
The psalmist goes on to include a reference to Christ and I cannot help but think of the beautiful ordination ceremony yesterday where 5 new priests were ordained for the Diocese of St Pete. They will be Christ on earth for us in the Alter Christi that is now theirs thanks to the gift of the Holy Spirit. The cathedral was packed and it was such a joy filled occasion! It is difficult not to appreciate the beauty of such a grand cathedral, especially when it is so Spirit filled! And yet, we are all just a dot in time. I receive satellite images of earth and space from the International Space Station on my Twitter, and I marvel at the complexity of the natural world: Mount Etna's plumes, Ontario's agriculture, Kazakhstan. And yet, all that is just a dot in the universe.
Let's take some time today and pray for our time together here and now. Let's take a moment to admire God's handiwork, from thefull moon at night outdoors to the beautiful indoor places and, most importantly, to all of His creatures, especially us as humans, whom He so carefully made in His divine image and likeness.
