John 1:50

Jesus answered and said to him, "Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this."

I think one of the coolest things about being a Christian is being able to recognize the good things in our lives as blessings. We believe and understand that these people, events etc. are not some random product of happenstance but a deliberate sign of God's love for us. Blessings are also meant to point us to something greater than themselves. Every blessing is a whispered reminder from God that there are much, much greater things to come. Nathaniel (believed by many to be St. Bartholomew) is blown away that Jesus saw him sitting under the fig tree. How could he have seen him there? He's encountered a man who has the power to see things that should be beyond the range of human sight! Surely this man must be the Son of God. But even in the midst of this blessing Jesus reminds him that this is just a shadow of future wonders. Greater things are yet to come! The same is true for us today. Anything good we experience in this life is just a tiny glimpse of what's to come. We ain't seen nothin' yet!
