Acts 17:32
When they heard about resurrection of the dead, some began to scoff, but others said, "We should like to hear you on this some other time."
Success has become an idol in our culture. We lift up those who meet goals and overlook those who we deem 'failures'. Now, that is not to say that success is a bad thing. Prevailing when trying to accomplish something that matters is a very good thing. However, not achieving a strived for goal doesn't make you a failure. In the Christian life, what God ultimately looks for is faithfulness - not necessarily success. In sharing our faith with others, for example, we'll likely encounter a lot of people who are just not interested in what we have to say. They may make fun of us, blow us off, and maybe even ignore us. To have people reject the message does not mean you've failed God or yourself. The verse from Acts above shows us just one of many times Paul was ridiculed or blown off by those who was preaching to. Now, we of course don't see Paul as a failure. He was faithful until the end in sharing the Gospel and living out his purpose in Christ - and that is true success. Strive for true success today!
