Ezekiel 37:9-10
From the four winds come, O spirit, and breathe into these slain that they may come to life. I prophesied as he told me, and the spirit came into them.
Many of us know people who seem to go through life without much hope. They don't seem happy, always seem to carry a dark cloud with them. For some, it might be understandable. Life's circumstances may have proven difficult with the loss of a job, loved one, financial strains, or a general malaise of life. Today's reading from Ezekiel is the story of the dry bones. God directs the prophet to a valley of bones that are dried up, exposed to the elements. This represents the Israelites who seem to have lost all hope. But God directs Ezekiel to teach/prophesy to these bones that the spirit may come back into them, that their lives may be restored.
We are all called to follow the example of Ezekiel to others. But sometimes when we doubt, when we lose hope, we become zombies without life and just a walking bag of bones. As Christians, we must ask the Holy Spirit to work within us to keep us alive in Christ. As a radio ministry, we are called to proclaim the Good News and implore the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of our listeners.
