"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her."
It's summertime and the living is easy. Vacations, beach visits, mountain journeys all for the taking. Then there are the summertime chores: lawn is growing and needs daily attention, pool needs cleaning, kid's parties, back to school shopping. This does not include the work and chores for a regular week. Next thing you know, you've put off church on Sunday. "No big deal," you think. "They won't miss me, and besides, I need some down time."
Jesus is constantly calling us to Him, but rarely do we listen. We get tied up in the chores of this life and begin to prioritize things. Church shouldn't be a chore, but many of us make it one. You hear this especially from the kids, or even a spouse, "Do we HAVE to go to church? Let's take the Sunday off and go to the local breakfast joint instead." Does Jesus take time off from you? Make church a priority for you this Sunday, and if you've been away for a while, it's a great time to come home. Like Mary, choose the better part today!
