That Sunday

By Elle
Last Sunday, the zipper on a wedding dress broke and the bride and groom and their families are in a small Canadian town, Guelph, Ontario.

For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; if it delays, wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late.

Habakkuk 2:3

Last Sunday, the zipper on a wedding dress broke and the bride and groom and their families are in a small Canadian town, Guelph, Ontario. There was no easy way to fix the dress, and on a Sunday, there were not many options. The bride was prepared to walk up the aisle with pins in the dress.   A bridesmaid called on the next door neighbor, who happened to have just invited into his home a few days before that Sunday, a family of Syrian refugees from Aleppo, the mother, father, and three small children.  And so it was that the

Syrian dad is a master tailor, having worked in Aleppo for 28 years.  "He literally sewed the wedding dress back onto her" the wedding photographer said. Everyone was so grateful.

A local businessman who has helped relocate these families and others, nearly 50 in all, said that they have come from one of the most hellish places on earth, and he is happy to help place them into a small, safe Canadian town.  As it turns out, both the bride and the groom are immigrants to Canada too, the bride's family being from China.  The groom called the Syrian tailor's masterly repair an incredible act of kindness from a "complete stranger", and Ibrahim, the tailor, said through a translator, that he "likes to help the people from his heart."

Families from different places looking after each other.  I pray each day for peace:  "Wait for it, it will surely come, it will not be late."
