Spiritually Resonant

By Elle
It's no secret that children who...

Revelation 7:16-17
They will not hunger or thirst anymore, nor will the sun or any heat strike them.  For the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to springs of life-giving water.

It is no secret that children who know they are loved are confident and have an inner peace.  This is the time of year when children receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, and the older ones receive Confirmation.  We hope that they will begin to understand that no matter what happens, there is a God who loves them for who they are.  It is a good idea to pray that as they become young adults, because they are often faced with difficult decisions regarding right and wrong.  We pray they will remember how important it is to do what's best for them spiritually. We all know how that can often be overlooked for what  feels right at the time, which can lead to spiritually dangerous consequences. This image of Jesus as the shepherd who will look after us and take care of us is comforting.  Physically we all understand what it is to feel hunger and thirst.  We can also use our other senses to understand this concept of being spiritually satisfied.

To resonate is to produce or be filled with a deep reverberating sound.  To resonate requires a two way process, like a giving and receiving.  I like that as a way to further this image of Jesus as a shepherd because it is a two way process between the shepherd and his sheep. He hears them and they know his voice. Yes he feeds them, tends to them, and protects them and if they bleat one way or another he also hears them and understands. He would know if they are afraid or uncomfortable.

Let's be spiritually resonant today and listen for God's voice. Remember God loves you (giving)  and that you can respond to that love by accepting it (receiving) and then you can give that love to another in a kind deed or compliment for example.  Then that person might learn to give too and love multiplies.
