Sorry Doesn't Cut It

You know the type of apology I'm talking about here...
Isaiah 1:16-17
Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil; learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan's plea, defend the widow.
When my kids were little they would mess up, as we all do, and apologize almost immediately. You know the type of apology I'm talking about here. The one that is so insincere it feels like they are still actually doing what they are saying sorry for. Nothing got me frustrated at my children more than that kind of apology! My response was always "don't say you're sorry, show me you are sorry". That's what God is asking of us here. It's not enough to just say we are sorry to God for our misdeeds. We have to live up to that sorry by doing good and showing love to those around us.
