After not reading my news feeds several times a day, waiting for the latest news on this scandal and that news, I have more time to reflect on what is right and good and true. Even paying attention to the local good ideas and neighborhood adventures has given me a better perspective of the positive things happening. And then this happened. My adult daughter called me and said she lost her wallet. She had an impromptu trip to North Carolina to get away for fun, and was in Georgia. I was alarmed, but was able to check her purchases by looking online and I saw the gas station she had recently visited in Perry, GA. I called the station and the gal couldn't have been nicer as she said she would look all around and outside around the pumps and call me if she found it. That was encouraging, even if it seemed a "long shot" that someone would turn it in. She did not call me back.
Five days later, on the return trip, my daughter knew she and her friend had also stopped at a McDonald's and she had walked her pup outside there. She didn't buy anything from there on the way to NC, which is why I didn't see it as a charge when I looked online. She went to look on the ground where she walked the pup just in case the wallet was still there, but no wallet was there. Then they went inside to get some food and asked and... yep! They had the wallet and said someone found it in the grass and turned it into the restaurant, with the license, credit card and even with the cash still in it! Is that awesome or what! It is an example for me to remember that I have to be careful when I read news that do not only look at what seems wrong all the time, but what is happening that is very right, just and true, and I pray that we all have a steadfast spirit and enjoy the week ahead.
