One little word passed along from person to person can get exaggerated and end up with a life of it's own....

The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present [day].

Isn't it amazing how quickly rumors can spread. One little word passed along from person to person can get exaggerated and end up with a life of it's own. Today we see the beginning of two stories. The story of Jesus rising from the dead as experienced by the two Marys, and the lie that was propagated by the Roman soldiers at the insistence of the chief elders. It's pretty crazy to me that this rumor of Jesus' body being stolen continues to this day. In the wake of celebrating the resurrection of our redeemer I am challenged by this verse. How am I spreading the truth? How am I interacting with people around me every day? Is that interaction fueling the rumor that my God died and was stolen from the tomb? Or are my actions showing that I serve a living God who conquered death on Easter morning?
