Rich Soil

By Elle
Let's work on the positves for a change

But as for the seed that fell on rich soil,
they are the ones who, when they have heard the word,
embrace it with a generous and good heart,
and bear fruit through perseverance."

Luke 8:15

Let's work on the positves for a change.  In this parable, Jesus explains the types of ground the seeds fell on, form the path, to the rocky, to the thorns that choked the seed, and finally to the rich soil that nurtured the seed so it could produce fruit.  I don't know about you, but I tend to criticize myself and even make quick judgments about those around me. Kind of like when someone calls and I roll my eyes before I answer? I am working very hard to overcome that temptation whose source is rooted in pride.

In these times, it would be very helpful for us all to admire and enjoy the good qualities of ourselves and those around us in our families and friends but also in coworkers and our neighbors. Let's accept the differnces we see and admire God's handiwork for making each of us so special, diverse, and unique. Then we can see our differences as a challenge to bring us together in compromise.  We can embrace those around us with a generous and good heart, knowing the seeds we sow with our good intentions will likely "bear good fruit" for all of us in the future.
