Ezekiel 12:1-2
The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, you live in the midst of a rebellious house; they have eyes to see, but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear. They are such a rebellious house!
Today's reading from the prophet Ezekiel echoes what many of us think of when reflecting on our own world today. It seems like every day we hear about war, violent crime, racial tensions, religions taking up arms against others. Indeed our world is a 'rebellious house.' In our own country, the political fighting and rhetoric has escalated to a level not seen since possibly the Civil War. This is a macro look at the world and the rebellious nature we live in. But how about our own homes? Divorce is at a high level. Fathers aren't around to teach their children. Mothers working two jobs to keep the family going. Teenagers looking for guidance in the wrong places. All of this can lead to rebellion.
How about in our own hearts? Knowing the commandments God gave us, do you follow them, or do you rebel? Do you do your own thing or do you do what God wants you to do? Pray today for a peace in our world, and a peace in your heart so that you can follow God each moment of the day!
