In John 6, there is a lot of murmuring going on. The disciples murmured among themselves (John 6:60), the Jewish people murmured at Jesus (John 6:41). He told them he is Bread from Heaven, and that he would give them a gift of his flesh and blood to eat and drink . Quite shocking I must admit. We would call it jaw dropping.

The challenge to believe in Jesus as Eucharist is still with us today.  I want to believe in him, to listen to his words, to follow him and the more often that I fill myself with the spiritual nourishment of the bread that feeds our souls, our spiritual life, the food of the spirit that Jesus gives us, the Eucharist, the more often I am open to the opportunity that God can change me.

I pray today that you too will be open to taking into your heart God's words. Accept the gifts that come with a deeper Christ centered relationship built around Jesus as the Bread of Life.
