In light of all the tragic events this past week, what caught my attention the most might not be what you expect.
Mark 6:24
Jesus said to his disciples, "No one can serve two masters."
In light of all the tragic events this past week, what caught my attention the most might not be what you expect. Taken from a FaceBook post, the message struck my heart. In my words, the message ardently asked for support rather than blame. "No blaming, no shaming" is the message.
What we all need in tragic times, where accidents happen or evil strikes, is the message of shared sympathy, admitted sorrow, and an oppotunity to grieve. It is a message of Love. We need this now perhaps more than ever because as this Gospel notes: we cannot serve the master of blame and shame, and also serve our God, who loves us all so much that He made us in His image. The gift of our free will defines our need to choose: God's side or the other.
