Ephesians 2:10
For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.
I think most of us spend our lives trying to make our parents proud. As a child it was thrilling to get the praise of my mom when I did something good. As a teen it sometimes felt as if I could never do anything good enough to please them. It wasn't until I became a parent myself that I learned there was nothing I could do to earn their love and admiration because I already had it. Unconditionally! Yet as an adult I still frequently call my mother to tell her of my accomplishments, hoping that I make her proud. It's funny, even when we already know our parents love can't be earned we continue to try and earn it. I think we transfer that desire to our Heavenly Father's love as well.

What if...
we started living our lives as if God already loves us?
we started living in the good work that God has set before us?
Not because we want to make Him proud or score points in heaven. But as a response to the love that he has already given us!
