In the Hunger Games, a common phase used to wish someone well who participates in the games is; "May the odds be ever in your favor". The presumption being that if they are, victory would be likely.
1 Samuel 17:47
"All this multitude, too, shall learn that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves. For the battle belongs to the LORD, who shall deliver you into our hands."
In the Hunger Games, a common phase used to wish someone well who participates in the games is; "May the odds be ever in your favor". The presumption being that if they are, victory would be likely. The scales could be tipped as a result of many factors; skill with weaponry, a level head, exceptional intelligence, resourcefulness, etc. However, in the story of David and Goliath, none of these factors mattered. Goliath was stronger, more powerful, well-armed, and trained for battle since he was a boy. But he was defeated. Defeated by a lowly shepherd with a slingshot. How? Militarily, this was the upset to rule all upsets! God shows us through this boy's faith that the battle truly, "belongs to the Lord". The power of this truth can't be overstated! Victory is always possible in any situation because God is the supreme deciding factor. He trumps all! And if He wants you to triumph, you will!
