May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word.
Fernando and I spend at least 5 minutes every morning sharing funny gifs or memes with one another. Just yesterday we laughed hysterically while scrolling through some of the recap tweets from the closing ceremonies in Rio.
It's true - when you're feeling down, there's no pick-me-up quite like a cat meme. It can push the dark clouds away and put an instant smile on your face. Unfortunately, that smile (unless it's REALLY funny cat meme) is pretty temporary. So many things that we use today to lift our spirits are like shooting stars. Bright & shiny but fizzle out quickly.
Can you imagine if St. Paul had said to the Thessalonians, I know you've been shaken and are down, but check out these pics of funny church signs! They would definitely crack up, but soon they would be back where they started. Instead, he reminded them of the EVERLASTING encouragement given to us by God. The hope that cannot be taken away. That same encouragement is here and available for you and me and we are called to pass it on.
