Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum

"You know I loved chewing gum as a kid.  I still do.  In fact you might even have a piece of chewing gum in right now.  And the great thing about gum is that when it loses its flavor or you get sick of chewing, you can just throw it away and don't think twice about it.  But sometimes that mentality can lead itself into our prayer life, into our adult life, even into our faith life, when our faith might start to lose its flavor or its excitement, might become boring or stale.  Sometimes we let it fall of into the wayside, but St. Peter warned us in his first letter, that we can't allow that to happen.  "For this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, he says, virtue with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with devotion.  St. Peter understood that our faith would require constant effort, and that's why virtue, knowledge, self-control, endurance, devotion.all of those things are so necessary for us to practice and to refine on a daily basis.  So today, keep putting in the effort, put it into your faith, keep chewing, and before you know it, you'll be blowing bubbles with the creator."
