(Vatican Radio) Myanmar’s Cardinal, Charles Maung Bo, has issued an appeal to all religions and all ethnic groups in the nation to make 2017 the Year of Peace.The Archbishop of Yangon’s plea comes as the UN and other human rights groups are accusing Myanmar’s military of committing grave atrocities against Burma's minority Rohingya Muslims.In Cardinal Bo’s appeal, which was sent to Fides News Agency, he says:  "It is time to join - all religions, all ethnic groups - to truly make 2017 the Year of Peace. Peace is possible through justice. Peace is possible through negotiations. So what was this year like for those with disabilities and those who work with them?It was the year that saw the world focus its attention on Paralympic athletes as they took part in Paralympic Games in Brazil. It was also the year that marked the 10th anniversary of the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities. The Church too shone the spotlight on the issue of disability when the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture along with the Kairos Forum sponsored an academic symposium and a conference regarding disability, theology and culture entitled, Living Fully 2016. (Vatican Radio)  Pope Francis has appointed a new Director of the Vatican Museums, Barbara Jatta, who is set to take up the post on 1 January 2017.Born in Rome on 6 October 1962, Barbara Jatta previously held the position of Vice-Director of the Vatican Museums.She received her Liberal Arts degree in Letters from the ‘Sapienza’ University in Rome in 1986, a Diploma in Archives at the Vatican School of Paleography the following year, and a specialization in Art History in 1991.Ms. Jatta has taught courses in ‘History of Graphic Art’ since 1994 at the University of Naples.She also worked at the Vatican Apostolic Library from 1996 until 2010.
The Holy Father has appointed two Auxiliary bishops  for the Archdiocese of Bombay, India, Fr. Allwyn D'Silva and Fr. Barthol Barretto.Fr.  Allwyn D'Silva, Episcopal Vicar of Bombay who was born on  April 20, 1948 and ordained to priesthood  on April 19, 1975 and Fr.  Barthol Barretto,  parish priest and Vicar Forane of the Archdiocese of Bombay  who was born on September  16, 1961 and ordained on  April 8, 1989.Fr. Allwyn  D'Silva, is  assigned the titular see of Dura and Fr. Barthol  Barretto is assigned the titular see of Strongoli.

The violence on the Christmas market is the opposite of what visitors were seeking. My compassion goes to the relatives of the dead and injured. For all of them I will pray. In these difficult hours for the city of Berlin and for our country, it is important for us to hold together and stand united as society. "
